April 2019 Newsletter
Inventions & InnovationsStudents in Track 1 and 2 are diligently working on their Paper Roller Coasters. They have almost completed an entire 6 turn, 1 loop, 15 second marble Roller Coaster. By Tuesday April 16th we will be moving on to 3D designing. This will match up with Tracks 3 and 4 who are already working on 3D designing.
The 3D design program we are using is TinkerCad. It allows students a method of 3D modeling by usage of X, Y, and Z coordinates. We will use this program to help compose designs of our inventions and innovations. Our beginning project will be to create a 3D ball maze. These mazes will be made and 3D printed. |
Project ReviveStudents in Project Revive are working on creating video games that show an individual experiencing a natural disaster. This has been a project that students have been working up to over the past two weeks. They have learned the causes and effects of natural disasters, how to react during a natural disaster. During this project students, will create their own characters, backgrounds, and animations. They will work in groups of two to code the jump game.
After students finish their games, we will be designing ways prevent extreme infrastructure damage from high winds and waters. Students will use a 3D design program, called TinkerCad, to design a house that could withstand a category 3 hurricane. These designs will be evaluated and the best ones will be printed out on the 3D printer. |
